Hello,
I am Shoshana
Offering a professional, yet personalised confidential therapeutic service to children and adolescents
I am a child and adolescent psychotherapist situated in Edgware, London, dedicated to offering a professional yet personalised psychotherapeutic service, based on principles of high standards and strict confidentiality.
I believe that it is fundamental for clients to feel relaxed and safe within a therapeutic relationship.
As such, I prioritise this relationship, because I feel that unless a patient can trust me, there will be limited scope for any therapeutic work to begin.
How I can Help
I am a highly skilled psychotherapist and I use a variety of different techniques and models to help clients manage their difficulties, we use models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Play Therapy, Sand Tray and Gestalt.
I aim to create a safe, warm environment where you can think through your thoughts and feelings away from your everyday life, to help you to make sense of your difficulties so that you can manage them better.
How I Work
Working with children and adolescents, I draw on different therapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioural, psychodynamic, with proven clinical effectiveness selected to meet your individual needs.
Prior to commencing a piece of work together, you will be invited to attend an initial assessment appointment. This is a one-off appointment to begin with, It will give you a chance to see how you feel in the session, and whether or not you wish to continue. There is no pressure for you to arrange anything more than this session to begin with, and I will spend time with you at the end of this session, discussing how you found it and whether you want to continue with further sessions.
If you do decide to continue with the work, I will discuss a formulation with you, your parent/guardian – a proposal of how I plan to work with you based on information supplied by you, and I will discuss with you or your parent/guardian the various goals you might want to have for the therapeutic work together.
Please remember, this is a collaborative approach – I will strive to work together with you, rather than tell you what to do.

If I'm still unsure?Making a decision to come for therapy sessions can seem daunting at first, for this reason, we are always happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have by telephone. We also suggest that a one-off, initial assessment is arranged to begin with. This puts no pressure on you to commit yourself and gives you a chance to see how you feel about the prospect of therapy, as well as giving me an opportunity to discuss your expectations and see whether I can help you. And of course, I maintain the strictest standards of confidentiality.

Will I be undertood? It is my aim not only to help clients understand and manage their difficulties better, but moreover to feel safe and secure within a trusting relationship. I know how challenging it can feel to come to a therapy session for the first time, and I would like to try and make it as comfortable as possible. Therefore, if you still have any questions, please do contact me and I will be happy to discuss this with you further.
